I Was A Contestant On Cooks Vs Cons Season 5
Cooks Vs. Cons Was An Amazing Experience
Hey Guys! I was a contestant on Cooks vs. Cons Season 5 last year in August? I wasn’t able to tell anyone that I was on television before the show aired and it was one tough secret to keep on lock down!
Over the summer of 2017 I traveled to the tristate area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut area) to film an episode of Cooks vs. Cons. Hosted by Chef Geoffrey Zakarian (or “GZ”), he hosts a cooking competition, in which contestants battle in the ultimate question: could a talented home cook beat a pro, or does a true professional have skills that no amateur could match? With a level playing field, and no one knowing which cook is which, only a blind taste test will prove who has the best dish.
At the end of two rounds, the “cook” or “con” that is victorious will take home a $10,000 prize. Only the producers know everyone’s true identity — the contestants, judges, hosts, and film crew weren’t able to distinguish between the culinary professionals and the con artists. The episode that I appeared on, “Not Your Mamas Meatloaf” originally aired in August of 2017 and if you’ve ever wondered if the shows you see on The Food Network are really that competitive, they certainly are — there are NO second chances. Once that countdown on that clock begins there are NO second takes. Even though I did not win the $10,000 prize I can proudly say I achieved a childhood goal of appearing on television.
